The flood of PlayStation 4 rumors keep coming through and two eagerly awaited rumors have arrived with PlayStation 4 pricing and two possible models. These rumors are on the back of the numerous rumors already circulating regarding the PlayStation 4 including games, the PlayStation Eye and the new Dual Shock controller for the PlayStation 4.
The price is what most people want to know and this also leads us into the talk of the two models. The rumored prices for the two consoles are $429 and $529. This also links into the talk that the PlayStation 4 will be around £300 ($460) in the UK and the 40,000 yen ($428) in Japan. The UK has tax included in the price which describes the higher figure. These prices would be around the launch price of the Nintendo Wii.
If these price points prove accurate then we’re looking at a PlayStation 4 launch price around $100 cheaper than the PlayStation 3 launch price. This seems to suggest that Sony has learned from their mistakes of the past and are looking to get the PlayStation 4 into the mainstream earlier or we could be looking at their reaction to the global financial situation. The PlayStation 3 was a slow burner and in my opinion has only recently got into it’s stride.
Details are still sketchy regarding why there are two consoles but it’s safe to assume that the bigger or deluxe model will have a bigger hard drive possibly around 1TB. This next generation of consoles will have a greater focus on digital distribution so a large hard drive will be a requirement.
Further on pricing I am expecting a price cut to the PlayStation 3 and Vita for Europe and US following the announcements tonight.

$430 & $530 are way too expensive! To me this shows that Sony has NOT learned it lesson from the PS3 launch disaster. In this economy anything over $400 is going to be a non-starter in this economy for anyone except for the most devoted Playstation fans. Even at $400 sales will be slow. If this turns out to be true, and if Microsoft has the ability to price the “Durango” sub $400 we’ll probably see the coming conslole generation play out exactly as this one did.
